# Tabula Privacy Policy *Last updated: October 27, 2026* Tabula is a browser extension that replaces the new tab page with a grid of your favorite sites. It is designed to work entirely on your device. This policy explains what data Tabula handles, where it stays, and what rights you have, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the French *loi Informatique et Libertés*. ## In short - **Paomedia collects no data.** Tabula has no server, no account, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party services. Nothing you do in Tabula is sent to Paomedia or to anyone else. - **Everything stays in your browser**, on your device, under your control. - **The only network requests** Tabula makes go to the sites on your page, to fetch their icons. ## Who we are Tabula is published by **Paomedia SARL**, a web agency based in Caen (Normandy, France). - Address: **[to be completed: registered office address]** - Company registration: **[to be completed: RCS / SIREN number]** - Contact for privacy questions: **[to be completed: email address]** Because Paomedia does not collect, receive or store any personal data through Tabula, Paomedia does not act as a data controller for the data described below: that data is kept and processed only on your own device. ## Data stored on your device To work, Tabula keeps the following in your browser's local storage (`localStorage` and `IndexedDB`), on your device only: | Data | Purpose | |---|---| | The sites on your page (address, name, and the address you chose to take the icon from, if any) | Show your grid | | The icons of these sites (images) | Show the tiles without fetching icons again | | Your settings (columns, tile size, language, options, animations, chosen background or color) | Remember your preferences | | Your background images (the ones you upload or drop, and the ones shipped with Tabula) | Show your background | This data is never transmitted to Paomedia or to any third party. It is not synchronized between your devices. It stays until you delete it. ## Bookmarks Access to your bookmarks is **optional**. Tabula asks for it only when you choose **"Add from bookmarks"**, and your browser asks for your permission at that moment. Tabula then reads your bookmark folders only to show them in that menu. Bookmarks are never modified, copied elsewhere or sent anywhere. Only the bookmarks you choose to add become sites on your page. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your browser's extension settings. ## Network requests Tabula connects to the Internet only to fetch site icons: - **The sites on your page.** When a site is added to your page, including the suggested sites placed there on first launch, Tabula requests its page, its web manifest and its icon files, to find its best icon. These requests are made **without cookies and without referrer**. Like any visit to a website, they let that site's server see your IP address and your browser's technical information (such as its user agent). Each site's own privacy policy applies to its server. - **Icon servers of some well-known sites.** For a few popular sites whose icons are hard to find (for example Google, Amazon, ChatGPT or Yahoo! JAPAN), Tabula may also request the icon directly from that company's image server. This happens only when such a site is on your page. - **Bookmark icons** shown in the "Add from bookmarks" menu are read from your browser's own cache, with no network request. Tabula makes no other request: no analytics, no crash reporting, no update checks of its own (updates are handled by your browser's extension store), no fonts or scripts loaded from outside. ## Legal basis Paomedia does not process your personal data. The data listed above is stored and used only on your device, by software running under your control, so that the extension can provide the service you installed it for. ## Your rights Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. With Tabula, you exercise these rights directly, since all the data is on your device: - **Access and portability:** *Backup & Reset → Export* saves your sites and settings to a file. - **Rectification:** edit or remove any site, change any setting, at any time. - **Erasure:** *Backup & Reset → Reset* deletes your sites, settings and background images. Removing the extension from your browser deletes all of Tabula's data. Paomedia holds no data about you, so it cannot access, modify or delete anything on your behalf. For any question, contact us at the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in France the **CNIL** ([www.cnil.fr](https://www.cnil.fr)). ## Data retention Data stays on your device until you delete it (by removing sites, using Reset, clearing your browser's site data for extensions, or removing the extension). ## Children Tabula does not collect any data, from children or anyone else. ## Chrome Web Store User Data Policy Tabula's use of information complies with the [Chrome Web Store User Data Policy](https://developer.chrome.com/docs/webstore/program-policies/user-data-faq), including the Limited Use requirements. Tabula does not sell, transfer or use any user data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose, does not use it for advertising or creditworthiness, and does not allow humans to read it. ## Changes to this policy If this policy changes, the new version will be published with the extension and its "Last updated" date will change. A change that would affect how your data is handled would be described in the extension's release notes.
